Packers Arrive!

No one really tells you what to expect when you are getting ready to move.  Our last move from St. Pete there were only three of us and it was a easy transfer up the East Coast.  This time around there are four of us and we are making a HUGE move to Alaska.

I felt like I'd given myself enough time to meet all the requirements, take pictures off of the walls, unplug electronic equipment, and put aside anything you don't want the movers to pack.  Its what is written between the lines that you have to remember: clean out your bathroom closet, so four years worth of decongestant, old toiletries, bandage supplies, and the three tubes of sunburn cream don't make the trip.  Its the trash cans that you need to clean out and empty before they get packed, the curtains that need to be washed, and of course opening the forgotten attic to see what you might have put up there for storage.

Last but not least, no where is it written down that your five year old goes to wash her hands, pulls up the drain plug to play, and then leaves the water running.  Who knows for how long, but suddenly you hear water raining down into the basement. So, Andy and I raised the white flag and called in the troops for help! The kids got a great day of play of with friends and Andy and I increased our work load.  BUT, we got it done.

Four bags have been packed for our month long adventure, toys have been rescued and organized from hidden places, donations have been made at the local food pantry and to friends, and the ceiling has been repaired!

Already our move is going smoothly. The packers arrived on time and after about two hours the Quality Control Representative from Newport stopped in to see how we were doing!  We learned not only will they box and wrap our stuff, but then its put into crates.  Everyone is friendly and efficient. Now, if only one the rain would hold off....but as all know. You can't control everything.
